Comtesse Thérèse operates THE TASTING ROOM, Long Island's only multi-vineyard cooperative tasting room. THE TASTING ROOM was founded in 2003 by Robin and Karen Meredith of Broadfields, and featured four smaller, local wineries that did not have their own tasting rooms - Broadfields, Comtesse Thérèse, Schneider, and Sherwood House. A second location was opened in 2004 in Jamesport.

After Broadfields sold their vineyard in late 2005, Comtesse Thérèse assumed responsibililty for operating The Tasting Room's Peconic location. In 2010, The Tasting Room now features limited release, hand-crafted, artisanal wines from eight Long Island wineries:

  • Comtesse Thérèse
  • Schneider Vineyards
  • Brooklyn Oenology
  • Bouké
  • Gramercy Vineyards
  • Onabay Vineyards
  • Medolla Vineyards
  • Christiano Family Vineyards

The Tasting Room, housed in a historic 1860's building, with original tin ceilings and walls, and formerly both a hardware/general store and a brothel, is located just north of the railroad tracks in the quaint village of Peconic, Long Island, between Cutchogue and Southold.

Our flights encourage the taster to appreciate the differences between wines. Contrast two styles of chardonnay, two cabernet francs, or merlots aged in different types of barrels, for example.

•  Feel free to ask questions. Our staff is dedicated, knowledgeable, and unpretentious.

• Over a dozen wineries and vineyards are located within a 10-mile radius, and practically all of the vineyards within a 20 mile radius.

In the past 140 years, it's been a hardware store, butcher, and even a brothel!
